SHADOWS What dark shadows fall upon the radiant mind of childhood, dulling its innocence and faith? Layered over time, those shadows shroud joyous naive essence, the inheritance of birth. Faith, so strong at start, is lost from conscious mind, innocence, so sweet at start is stained. by the vicissitudes and vagaries of life beyond the ken of childhood vulnerability. Yet, is there not a deeper resource which God has freely given to us all? Not an inheritance for just this life, but a present for infinity - a bright flame, unquenchable. Deep below the radiant mind, now layered, stained and lost lies the power of the soul. It can generate a force sublime to cleanse the shadows from all the betrayed childhoods. And give beauty to those lives, once more. c. w. anderson (1983)
